First road trip

Had to take the rig to Harrison hot springs from Squamish. 1 tank to there and back.. tried to hold it at 100-105 on the way down, and coming back kept it in the "green" zone and cruised between 80-90 to see the difference in Fuel economy! Suprised that the 4l diesel was not that bad. All in all I am guessing that with all forms of driving, I averaged about 12-14l / 100km
Happy times. Hopefully once the larger tires are onboard and the rpm's come down a touch it will be a bit better!

Finished the sound proofing.. and.....

Before....and...

So I finally had the time to lay the final layer of FatMat in the front. Also cut some of the 10mm rubber underlay and 3M spray tacked it to the roof of the front of the cab, where the headliner was missing. In the grooved I PL4000'd some 1/4 round hardwood, and then for the final touch, used some t&G pine beadboard to finish the headliner off.  I Also made some pods to allow a bigger speaker than the 4" stock in the doors. There is now some Sony Explode 6*9" speakers in there... waiting for the new dvd/gps deck to arrive...
fun times, its nice to have door panels back on in the front, and the dash somewhat back together.

More sound Dampening

So I finished the FatMat insulation, and afterwards followed it up with a 10mm foam rubber carpet underlay for more insulation and sound dampening.  Then the stock rubber floor mats went back in. Huge improvements in road noise, even with the front not completed. Also resprayed the front door panels with rock guard, and will be repainting grey later.

Camper shell??

Found a camper shell that was custom built for a unimog. Its a bit long, and needs some love, but might be my starting point for the camper...

Safari Rack

Mounted up a nice safari Rack that had to be slightly modified from its footings on an old hdj81 Landcruiser... 3" blocks on each side made it fit perfectly in the gutters on the Canter!

Right now all my seats are out, and the truck is looking pretty bare....

Roof liner tomorrow, some extra wiring for future upgrades to the lighting and stereo/gps... and , and, and....

Sound Dampening

Should help the road/engine noise....
FATMAT sound dampening...And then hopefully some thick insulating foam beneath the rubber mat flooring.

Bought a 24v-12v reducer to run the stereo... and deciding weather to mount it on the roof, or in the stock stereo location...

New set of BFG's helped the ride...

First Post

I guess this is a starting point. I purchased this truck from Japan.... imported it to Canada, and the plan is for a home built camper that will take me and the Wife to the tip of South America... and points in beetween...
Its a 1991 Mitsubishi Fuso ( Canter ) FG 4x4 quad cab. Its running on a 4 cyl non-turbo Mitsubishi Engine...
Its a work truck, its loud inside, and will need some love before its on the road...
so this is the blog, who knows how long it will take... Project Fuso kicks off.... Sound Dampening, Inverters, GPS, Stereo, and some new Wheels from USA 6x6 so I can get rid if the duallys in the back......
